Loaves and Fishes meal – Feb. 19, 2023

Date: February 19, 2023

Starting in February 2023, Loaves and Fishes meals will no longer be boxed as they have been since the Covid Pandemic started. Instead, Loaves and Fishes will revert to the original method of serving on plates.

Our Social Action Team recruits volunteers to prepare servings of various dishes and other volunteers to serve the meal and clean up afterward.

Both the volunteers providing food and those who will serve and clean up are asked to be at Wilkes Boulevard United Methodist Church by 4:30 p.m. Feb. 19. Cleanup usually takes until about 6:30 p.m.

Please submit receipts for all food items, and some or all of your expenses may be reimbursed by the church.

Loaves and Fishes was started in the mid-1980s by the St. Francis Catholic Worker community and serves a free community meal seven nights a week from 5 to 6 p.m. at Wilkes Boulevard United Methodist Church in partnership with that church and more than 20 other local faith communities and other organizations.
