Rooted in a work of theology by the same name, this service will explore how and when early Christian theology shifted away from an invitation to Paradise as a flourishing experience of life on this earth toward a focus on crucifixion, suffering, and otherworldly reward. “A Universal Symbol: Palm Sunday for Non-Christians” was guest preacher Rev. Dr. C.W. Dawson Jr.’s sermon title on March 24, 2024. His thesis was that while Palm Sunday is a Christian celebration, it has elements of universal importance for members of the beloved community. He explored the universal meaning of Palm Sunday for Christians and non-Christians alike.
