Bikes, New Members and Honoring Volunteers
There was a lot going on at UUCC on Sunday morning, May 10, 2015. The Green
Sanctuary Team's urgings prompted a number of attendees to ride their bikes
to church, where they were treated with a breakfast station in the Greeting
Area. The last fair trade sale of coffee, tea and chocolate until September
was held before and after worship.
During worship, the many volunteers who make things happen in our church
were recognized and thanked, and congregants were encouraged to think about
how their individual talents could help in our shared ministry.
Toward the end of the service, Marianne Erickson was honored with a
"Lifetime Achievement Award" for her many years of service to UUCC.
Marianne, who is retiring to Prescott, Ariz. this summer, has chaired the
Caring Ministry Coordinating Team the past several years, chaired the
stewardship drive in past years, served as a steward for many years, and
organized numerous bake sales and yard sales, among other things. Our loss
will be a big gain for a UU congregation in Prescott, but Marianne promises
to come back and visit.
The photos below were taken by Allie Gassman, Stephanie Dorman and Steve
Scott.

From left, Pack Matthews, Kevin Fritsche and Ellen Thomas were
among those who rode bikes to church.

Clint Zweifel and Janice Smith also rode their bikes.

The bike rack was full.

There was overflow bike parking along the sidewalk leading to the
lower level.

Ellen Thomas oversaw the breakfast station for those who used
alternative transportation to get to church.

Steve Scott perused the offerings at the fair trade sale table.

New member Carrie McFarland introduced herself after signing the
membership book while her husband, Jonathan McFarland, signed the book.
Looking on were Rev. Molly and Membership Team Chair Kevin Fritsche.

Adele Dorman, daughter of Stephanie and Larry Dorman, introduced
herself. She noted that she grew up in the church and thought it was time
to become a member.

Adele signed the membership book.

The new members read their part of the Ingathering affirmation and
covenant.

Marianne Erickson and Rev. Molly enjoyed a moment of levity
during Marianne's Lifetime Achievement Award presentation.

Another Dorman, Jack (Stephan), served as doorman.
