Lively Stewardship Sunday at UUCC
Stewardship Sunday at UUCC was observed with a lively lay-led worship service
presented by the Stewardship Team. Featured was the the UUA 2014 Stewardship
Award Sermon, "Five Dollars is Five Dollars," by the Rev. Greg Ward,
originally delivered to the Bull Run Unitarian Universalist Church in
Manassas, Virginia on March 23, 2014. The sermon text is available on the
Sermon
Archive page.
After worship, our stewards fanned out across town to visit all
who had not yet pledged for the 2015-16 fiscal year beginning July 1. The
stewardship campaign theme this year was "All Together Now," and our primary
goal was obtaining a pledge of note from all potential pledgers.
All but three photos below were taken by Steve and Gena Scott. The remaining
three photos were taken by Andrew Twaddle (see credits).

Jeremy Milarsky was the board welcomer.

Stewardship Chair Steve Scott announced the current status of the
pledge campaign and explained that stewards would be visiting those
who had not yet pledged.

Maria Oropallo, the Stewardship Team member who organized and led
the service, delivered the opening words in the form of a story.

Scott Denson sang the chalice lighting.

The congregation sang a hymn, "Enter, Rejoice and Come In."

Jeff Ordway presented a reading, "Honoring Our Past."

Jeremy Milarsky sang the Beatles song "Hide Your Love Away."

Jackie Marcink presented a reading, "Honoring Our Present."

Peter Holmes performed the Beatles song "Money Can't Buy Me Love"
for the offertory.

Rev. Molly presented the stewardship moment, describing what
Unitarian Universalism has meant in her life and why she financially
supports the church with a pledge.

The congregation made a web of ribbons during the responsive
reading, "We Are Here," adapted from a prayer by the Rev. Julie
Stoneberg. Steve Mudrick led the reading.

Sam Otten, left, rewrote the lyrics of the Beatles song "All
Together Now," the theme of our stewardship campaign this year. Sam and
his wife Chelsea led the congregation in singing the rewritten song.
