In his sermon “It Holds Whatever It Is Given” on July 19, 2026, lay leader Ben Schulz said that under capitalism, all things, and even people, are only one step away from becoming trash. The antidote, he said, is to "...hold all or neighbors close – human or not. We can give love and caring to whoever comes before us and show that everyone really is precious...."
