Children’s Service Sunday

Organizing food for Festival of Sharing food packs

We know that doing things for others makes you feel really, really good. So, on the first Sunday of each month while the adults are in the worship service, our children in the religious education program are participating in a “Service Sunday.”

Under the direction of helpful adults, the kids of the church act on their belief in our UU seven principles. Examples of past projects include:

  • Preparing food packs and other packs for the Festival of Sharing
  • Crafting blankets for Project Linus
  • Gathering and wrapping gifts for our church’s Voluntary Action Center Christmas family
  • Participating in book and toy drives
  • Making cat toys for lonely pets at the Humane Society
  • Cleaning gently used toys to donate to Goodwill
  • Making UNICEF posters
  • Assembling pet supplies for donation to the Central Missouri Humane Society

Through these monthly projects the children of our church are leaning that they can help to make the lives of others better, and while doing so, can make their own lives better as well.
