Climate Resilience Skill-Up Team

February 2024: The Climate Resilience Skill-Up Team is working on changing the format of its activities and has canceled all future events listed below. This page will be revised when the team has made its final decisions about format and events.

This team facilitates Climate Resilience Skill-Up Workshops from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on the third Saturday each month. These gatherings are open to the public, family-friendly, and intended to help us build resilient community as we live into a climate-changed world. They include a potluck dinner with time to chat about our grief and gratitude for the earth, some sing-along time, and a workshop tackling a skill that will help us build our resilience together.

The first two workshops in October and November 2023 were devoted to planning for the year and discussing a film. Following is the remaining schedule for the church year:

  • Dec. 16, 2023 – Slowing the Season (Holiday Pause) – This will be a cozy gathering to share our practices and resources for slowing down during the fallow season of our hemisphere. We’ll have relaxing music, candlelight, a time for silent contemplation, and the opportunity to discuss how to opt into a different pace.
  • Jan. 20, 2024 – Basic Electric Repair
  • Feb. 17, 2024 – Resource Mapping
  • March 16, 2024 – Collecting/Filtering Water
  • April 20, 2024 – Emergency Communication Planning
  • May 18, 2024 – Surviving Heat Waves

Members of the Climate Resilience Skill-Up Team are Jenny Bossaller, Rebecca Graves, Jeff Ordway, Kim Wade and Rev. Molly Housh Gordon.
