40 Missouri UUs attended first-ever Advocacy Day in Jeff City

Forty UUs, including six from UUCC, gathered in Jefferson City on Wednesday, April 23, for the first-ever Missouri UU Advocacy Day.

The group met at the Jefferson City UU Fellowship for relationship-building, training and lunch. After lunch they went to the Missouri State Capitol to talk with legislators about bodily autonomy, workers’ rights, and how maybe they shouldn’t spend their entire session trying to overturn the clear will of the voters. We also got to spend time with – to our knowledge – the only Unitarian Universalist in the General Assembly, State Rep. Gregg Bush, a member of UUCC.

The UUs were from eight different congregations, representing the St. Louis area, Kansas City area, Columbia, Jefferson City, and Springfield. Attending from UUCC were Rev. Molly, Rosie Geiser, Steve and Gena Scott, and Barb and Dale Stone.

Rev. Molly initiated the planning for the Advocacy Day and was assisted by Rev. Erin Dajka Holley, Rev. Michelle Scott-Huffman, and Rev. Krista Taves.

The group gathered on the Capitol steps for a photo before going inside.
