This month, I’ll be offering a discussion group and shared meal time where we dive into our UU value of Interdependence. The 2024 Article II revision has given us new language around how we understand our relationship to the planet and all its beings:

We honor the interdependent web of all existence. With reverence for the great web of life and with humility, we acknowledge our place in it. We covenant to protect Earth and all beings from exploitation. We will create and nurture sustainable relationships of care and respect, mutuality, and justice. We will work to repair harm and damaged relationships.

The UU Animal Ministry has created a discussion group curriculum called “Embracing Interdependence,” where congregations can dive into this facet of our covenant. What actions or ways of thinking does this value call us to in how we relate to the earth and the other humans and animals we share it with? Are there small ways we can make changes or shift our thinking that lean into this value?

We will gather at 5:30pm on Sunday, January 11 in the greeting area for the discussion. We’ll share a potluck meal together while we talk. In the spirit of the theme, bring foods to share that are vegan, seasonal, and local when possible/accessible.

I look forward to diving into this UU value with you!
