[Adopted June 19, 2014]
The UUCC bylaws provide that any person who is at least 16 years of age, who is in agreement with the purpose of UUCC as set forth in the bylaws, and who makes a financial contribution to UUCC may become a member by signing the membership book and recording the date in the presence of the minister or a member of the Board of Trustees.
The bylaws further provide that the contribution requirement shall be set by the board and may be waived in individual cases at the discretion of the minister. In keeping with our mission of forging a community of radical welcome and deep connection, the board’s expectations are that:
- All members should make some financial contribution of record each year;
- Members who are able to do so should make a pledge; and
- The minister should consider a member’s personal circumstances, including but not limited to age, education, occupation, income, property and assets, in exercising discretion to waive the contribution requirement.
The minister is responsible for providing a path to membership for prospective new members and for integrating new members into the life of the congregation.
