Membership Team will pilot “buddy system”

Our Membership Team is about to pilot a buddy system (now called “Welcome Weavers”) to introduce and connect visitors to the church. This is being facilitated through a Membership Team subcommittee whose members are Nancy Browning, Alexandra Roper, Aaryn Johns, Mary Beth Buffaloe, and Kathy Myers. Church members will meet in person with visitors who sign up for the program to help them become acquainted with the church on a more personal level.

After receiving feedback about the pilot, it will be tweaked if needed and then will begin in a more robust way after enlisting more members who wish to be paired with new guests.

There is a new box to check on the Visitor Connect Form if guests would like to be paired with a member as part of this program. We will start with a pilot of only five guests (one for each subcommittee member).

If you are interested in being involved in this program as it rolls out at full scale in the late fall, or if you have any questions, please email Nancy Browning.

Newcomers’ Retreat

The Membership Team will host its final Newcomers’ Retreat of the calendar year on Sunday, Oct. 12 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the sanctuary. Those wishing to learn more about the church and about Unitarian Universalism (with the possibility of becoming members during an Ingathering on Oct. 19) will attend the entire retreat. Current members and friends are invited to attend the potluck from 6 to 7 p.m. – this is our chance to meet and welcome newcomers. We hope you will put this on your calendar and use this link to register for the retreat and the dinner.
