SIJT announces fundraising results for Rapid Response Fund

Thank you, thank you, UUCC! The Sanctuary and Immigrant Justice Team (SIJT) was the recipient of the Faith-to-Action collections in March, and with the aid of a generous anonymous matching gift an amazing amount of $2,703.98 was given for our newest endeavor, a Rapid Response Fund.

This fund managed by Rev. Molly and Rev. Dottie will be used to address the urgent financial needs of our immigrant neighbors during this time of cruel and unjust actions of our government. The SIJT also had a Tamale Fundraiser after worship on April 19, with the proceeds also going to the Rapid Response Fund.

Although we will only be able to meet just a fraction of the urgent needs of our immigrant neighbors, UUCC will be part of a wider network of support by other organizations and many people who know what is happening is wrong. The SIJT is so very grateful to the UU Community in Columbia for its generous financial support and for connecting UUCC in this way to the wider network of compassion and care.

For those interested, contributions can continue to be made by specifying “Rapid Response Fund” with any cash, checks, or online gifts.
